Charity Effort Exceeds Expectations
A charity walk sponsored by Beakbane has exceeded expectations by raising over £30,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
On Wednesday evening (9 April) 47 members of the Kidderminster Harriers Independent Supporters Trust (KHIST) completed their two day walk from the Harriers ground at Aggborough to the Forest Green Rovers ground at Nailsworth near Cirencester, just in time for the kick off in the league match between the two teams.
The walk was arranged in memory of the former KHIST chairman Steve Millington who died of cancer last year.
Beakbane was asked to help by Rob Glassey, a life-long Harriers fan and a team leader at the Kidderminster-based company which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year.
Through the Beakbane Employee Trust, which holds a 55% stake in the company on behalf of its employees, it donated £500 to sponsor the shirts that the walkers wore on the second day of their endeavour.
Beakbane’s Managing Director Mike Southwell said: “We were very pleased to be able to support this worthy cause, particularly because of the strong local connection, and delighted that the walk raised so much money.”
